Life after service comes with unique challenges. For many veterans, healthcare is one of the hardest to navigate. At The Veteran Suite, we see firsthand the conditions that most often affect veterans and their families — and we’ve built our services to make sure no one has to face them alone.
Here are five of the most common health challenges veterans deal with, and how we can help:
1. PTSD and Anxiety
Post-traumatic stress and anxiety disorders are unfortunately common in the veteran community. They can affect daily life, relationships, and overall wellbeing. Our GPs and allied health professionals can connect veterans with the right mental health support, including psychologists and occupational therapists who understand military culture.
2. Chronic Pain and Injury
Years of physical training, deployment, and service-related injuries often lead to long-term pain. We provide access to pain and rehab specialists, allied health support, and ongoing GP care to help manage pain and improve quality of life.
3. Sleep Disorders
From insomnia to sleep apnoea, disrupted sleep is a frequent complaint among veterans. Poor sleep can worsen mental health, pain, and overall recovery. Through assessments and referrals, we work to identify the cause and connect veterans with the right treatment.
4. Hearing Loss and Tinnitus
Exposure to loud machinery, weapons, and vehicles means many veterans experience hearing issues. Our GPs can arrange hearing tests, specialist referrals, and claims support for hearing-related conditions.
5. Navigating DVA Paperwork
While not a “condition” in itself, the stress of managing claims and entitlements has a huge impact on veterans’ health. We know the forms, the wording, and the process that gets claims approved — helping veterans access the treatment and support they’ve earned.
At The Veteran Suite, we don’t just treat conditions — we understand the whole journey. Whether it’s a GP consult, specialist referral, or claims support, we’re here to make healthcare simple and accessible for every veteran.
